Woo-hoo! Just got word that my album, Friction In Some Direction, is being featured on YAWMA’s homepage! YAWMA is a “new way to discover and share the latest independent music and games with your Facebook friends and earn Cash Rewards while doing so.”
I also received a friendly review from their Music Director, Christian Blunda - “Dig this debut record from NY pop songstress Anna Zoe. Some songs are reminiscent of Tori Amos or Alanis Morissette, but all with Anna’s dynamic style. From piano ballads to robust rock songs, tribal sounds to electronic grooves, there is a lot packed into this album. It will be interesting to see where she goes from here… “
You can view my YAWMA profile here and then go discover other amazing independent artists on the site!
My debut album “Friction In Some Direction” is currently available for purchase in the “New Releases” section of Fifty100!
Here are some photos from the “Friction In Some Direction” Album Release Show at Best Buy in Union Square, NYC on Monday, June 27, 2011!

Today is the day I finally release my debut album, “Friction In Some Direction”. This has been a culmination of a few years work, and a life-long dream, that is now ready to come to life. I’ve studied, traveled, networked, dreamed, practiced, written, stressed, sweat, cried, laughed, screamed, recorded, performed, and paid for this day to come, and the day has finally come for me to deliver this baby. Of course like any new parent, I am excited for our future together, as well as nervous for it’s success in life, but I thank you for being my supportive family through it all!
“Friction In Some Direction” was actually a phrase my friend Jimmy happened to say in a conversation once, and it struck me hard. Not only did it sound cool, I felt like it really summed up my entire music experience. No part of my music career has ever been easy, but I wouldn’t be able to write the songs I did, or appreciate this moment without all the hard work and thick skin I accumulated because of that “friction” in life.
I’m really anxious for this next step in my career. I’ve been so focused on this album for so long, it will be strange to focus on something else for once. I’m sure I will be even busier now, but I welcome the new challenge and opportunities it will bring. I also wonder if I’ll finally stop grinding my teeth at night?
Thank you for not only supporting my music, but for believing in me. For those who have been along for the ride since the beginning, I thank you for your patience, and never giving up on me! So let’s raise this child together, and if all goes well, maybe there will be more kids in the future. ;)

AHHH!!! MY CD’S FINALLY CAME TODAY!!!
After I finished practicing, I checked my email and saw I had like 8 UPS packages waiting for me downstairs and I just KNEW what it had to be! Too excited to wait until I took Kona for a walk, I grabbed my keys and ran downstairs and waited as patiently as possible as my doorman loaded all 8 boxes of CDs one by one onto the cart for me. I was giddy and my palms were sweating and I couldn’t take it any longer. I went up the elevator, unloaded the boxes into my apartment, grabbed scissors, cut the first box open, and wa-la! A dream come true! I immediately put the CD into my computer, imported it, freaked out that none of the track names were showing up, later to learn I just had to submit them, listened through nervously hoping nothing was fucked up, AND IT’S PERRRRRFECT! I’m so excited to share this with you all on June 27th. I’ve been consciously dreaming of this day since I was 12 years old, and working toward it ever since; especially hard the last 5 years. I love it and I hope you do too.
Thank you for waiting!
