Woo-hoo! Just got word that my album, Friction In Some Direction, is being featured on YAWMA’s homepage! YAWMA is a “new way to discover and share the latest independent music and games with your Facebook friends and earn Cash Rewards while doing so.”
I also received a friendly review from their Music Director, Christian Blunda - “Dig this debut record from NY pop songstress Anna Zoe. Some songs are reminiscent of Tori Amos or Alanis Morissette, but all with Anna’s dynamic style. From piano ballads to robust rock songs, tribal sounds to electronic grooves, there is a lot packed into this album. It will be interesting to see where she goes from here… “
You can view my YAWMA profile here and then go discover other amazing independent artists on the site!
My debut album “Friction In Some Direction” is currently available for purchase in the “New Releases” section of Fifty100!

“SoundExchange is a non-profit performance rights organization that collects statutory royalties from satellite radio (such as SIRIUS XM), internet radio, cable TV music channels and similar platforms for streaming sound recordings. The Copyright Royalty Board, which is appointed by The U.S. Library of Congress, has entrusted SoundExchange as the sole entity in the United States to collect and distribute these digital performance royalties on behalf of featured recording artists, master rights owners (like record labels), and independent artists who record and own their masters.”

If I was a teenage girl again, I would absolutely LOVE Taylor Swift. She definitely deserves to win a Grammy for Album of the Year against all the other nominees, and I feel it was definitely time to pass the reign! Now with that being said, my vocal coach, Craig Derry, always says “It’s not about the a-ward, it’s about the re-ward.”
Being an indie-artist myself, I look at someone like Ingrid Michaelson, who recently performed on The Ellen Show. Her music has been on countless TV shows, films, and commercials, almost every week it seems; AND Ellen claimed Ingrid’s music is one of the highest downloaded in history! Now I realize downloading music doesn’t have an extremely long history, but I think that makes it even bigger and better! Here’s an artist who is completely independent (she releases her albums under her own label, Cabin 24 Records), probably far from winning a Grammy award, but is truly winning the RE-WARD. She has it all to herself; the talent, respect, fans, and fortune, but doesn’t have all the annoying celebrity fame to go with it!
So, let us always remember that in all of life, “it is not about the a-ward, it is about the re-ward.”
