A rather enlightening article I came across regarding the way we may talk about eating organic to those who can hardly afford to eat at all. I do apologize if I’ve ever offended any of you by promoting organic living in that way! My intent is always to share knowledge to help others make the best, most educated choices in their own life, not to make someone feel bad for the unfortunate choices they may be forced to make. However, if you say you can’t afford to eat organic, and then go buy a designer purse, the story changes completely. :)
I know a lot of people look down on The Dugger’s for bringing so many children into an already over-populated world. I get it. But, that is their choice and right, and if they do so responsibly, I have no qualms about it! The majority of their way of life sounds like common sense, but unfortunately is not so common these days. The only part I disagree with in this article is about never using credit cards, because we personally save money by using credit cards. We never spend more in a month than we can pay off and use our points to pay for flights, or other purchases like the Mac desktop I’m using at this very moment!
SO nice to hear this! If only all those with more, gave more like her. After you’ve set money aside for you and your family’s future, there is absolutely no reason to still be a billionaire… give that shit away! I always say, even if someone gave me a billion dollars tomorrow, I would still have the same blueprint in mind for my home. Sure I’d probably travel more and pay off all debt, but nothing I’d need billions for! I like to think I appreciate quality over quantity. Having that much money is wayyy too much responsibility to hold on to! Kudos to you J.K. Rowling…

When financial times are tough, I remind myself that God is my faithful provider, and that is all that matters in this world and the next. Some of the most beautiful people (inside and out) I have met hadn’t a penny in their pocket!
It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.
Everyone talks a lot about bringing power back to the people. The first and only way that will happen is if we take the power out of corporations, and stop treating them as human beings. They do not deserve the same rights as us. “They” are not real, “they” are only money. Instead of just talking about it, actually DO something about it, and sign the motion to amend our Constitution.
Very interesting article, especially during this “Occupy Wall Street” time in the U.S.
No man can become rich without himself enriching others.

Harvard law professor and consumer protection champion, Elizabeth Warren, suggests we all go on the 50-30-20 plan. Our after tax income should be divided into three chunks. Half of it should go toward paying necessary bills that cannot be put off, such as the rent or mortgage, utility bill, health insurance, minimum loan payments. Then 30% should go toward any “wants” such as vacations, a new handbag or TV, dinners out (that’s a HUGE money eater so I try make wise, healthy choices to make it worth it!). The remaining 20% should go toward savings or debt repayment.
I have to say this is pretty much how my budgeting plan goes, except I was raised to also give at least 10% to Jesus, and it works extremely well. Thank you Mom and Dad for your very wise financial advice! I distinctly remember not getting a Sega Genesis or CD stereo player until I saved up enough birthday money to buy it myself, or a car until I could pay for half of it and the insurance.
I get thoroughly annoyed when people make stupid money mistakes and then bitch about being broke. No matter how much your income is, big or small, there shouldn’t be exceptions. Even when I was only making $150 a week bartending in NYC, I stuck to these guidelines, and it never failed. If you want more money, get a better job. If you can’t find a better job, or a job at all, then stop senseless shopping and eating out, and I’ll bitch for you.
