Happy Music Monday AND Memorial Day everyone!
This week’s cover music video release is the classic “House of the Rising Sun” by The Animals. I hope you enjoy, and if you do, please share it!
Thank you to all those who have risked their lives and gave up their own freedom, for ours! Now let’s remember to honor all of them by keeping that freedom in mind by making conscious decisions in our own lives.
Happy Music Monday!
As you may already know, growing up I only listened to classic rock, a little Top 40 pop, or country music because that was all that was really available on the radio in my hometown. Then at my high school graduation, my now guitarist Aaron, gave me two albums by a band named Coldplay. I wasn’t familiar with them, or their type of music really at all, but I LOVED IT. After that, I started listening to more singer-songwriters and alternative music in college, which has definitely shaped the artist I have become today! Who would have known then, that 9 years later not only would Aaron and I be making music together, but covering a song off those albums? So this week’s cover music video release is one of our favorites, ‘The Scientist’ by Coldplay.
Hope you enjoy!
What animal has no name? A horse, of course! That’s right, this week’s Music Monday cover song video release is ‘Horse With No Name’ by America. Hope you enjoy!
I know I’m way late on sharing the “Somebody That I Used To Know” by Gotye craze. I first heard the song when Ingrid Michaelson posted her cover video a few months ago. Then a few weeks ago I heard another cover on the local college radio station saying the band, Walk Off The Earth, used only one guitar to record the whole cover song. I forgot to look it up, and then this weekend a friend shared the video on Facebook, and since it’s pretty amazing, I’ll share it with you too in case you’ve been living under the same rock I have been. After my guitarist Aaron and I watched it, we both felt equally inadequate of our abilities to make good music ever again. But, no worries, we’ll humbly continue to try…
Music Mondays! Every other Monday I’ll be releasing a music video of me doing an acoustic cover song! This week is the universally favorite, ‘Hallelujah’ by Leonard Cohen. Enjoy!
Here’s a little inspiration, and laughs, for your day!
Wow. 4 year old making SICK beats! I can’t believe how good he is…
Check out my girl Blake in her new music video “Creepin’” featuring Yours Truly! It was released in conjunction with Hollaback!, a movement to end street harassment. Funny thing, and I don’t believe in “coincidences”, Blake and I met in Craig Derry’s vocal class in NYC a few years ago after we realized we grew up in the same exact hometown (Erie, PA)! We graduated from high school the same year (different schools) and had mutual friends and never knew it. A small, small world we live in. :)
My song ‘Love In Jealousy’ is in the running to win a featured spot on the CW’s ‘The Vampire Diaries’ television show, but 1/3 of the judging process is YOUR VOTES! It is of course, and unfortunately, listed incorrectly so just look for my photo with ‘Craving’ under Anna Rachocki. You may already be aware of my obsession with anything vampire romance related so this would be a dream come true! Thanks for your support!
I often feel this way when “hustling” my music. At what point do I stop and say, “Here I am. Take it or leave it. But this is your last chance.”

Exactly what I needed to read today! A nice reminder to just BE, and let the ego GO.
I honestly can say I never really sought “fame”, but the inner struggle of wanting to be properly noticed for our efforts will always be there. Luckily, I learned early on that I could earn a decent living making music, and still walk down the street unnoticed; which in my opinion is the very best of both worlds!
However, I do constantly have to deal with ignorant judgments of what I choose to do with my life, because it is not a “normal” 9-5 job. It was rather acceptable in NYC, but not so much elsewhere. Apparently following a “one-in-a-million” childhood dream and running your own record label accounts for nothing? One day I finally came to the realization that regardless how much money I make or recognition I receive, society will never consider it “work”, so I better just get over it now and just BE.
