I love this photo.
I don’t really understand the whole “I believe in Science, therefore I do not believe in God” argument. Why not instead, “I believe in Science, therefore I believe in the Creator of Science and All Things Possible - God”?

Wow. This story took me back a bit …
From a conversation of a young lady with Elder Anatole Potapov of Optina:
“Now you’re going to tell me you want to get married?”
I was silent.
“You love him now for his good looks. Marry him when you feel that you can’t live without him. I know of one case: the husband was at war and was killed. His wife died at home in that same hour. When it’s like that with you, then get married.”
- Elder Anatole of Optina
Fasting is an exceptional virtue; it represses bodily impulses and gives strength to the soul to fight against the poisoning of the heart through the senses, and provides it with a remedy against any past poisoning. Fasting causes the mind to be cleansed constantly. It whithers up every evil thought and brings healthy, godly thoughts -holy thoughts that enlighten the mind and kindle it with more zeal and spiritual fervor.
- Elder Ephraim of Mount Athos

My heart grieves greatly today … 12-year-old Adriana from the Hogar Rafael Ayau orphanage in Guatemala City fell asleep unto the Lord today. May her memory be eternal, and God grant peace to all those at the Hogar and who knew her who are grieving.
“Let the little children come to me… for of such is the Kingdom of God.” (Luke 18:16)
As most of you know, in October 2010 I visited the Hogar Rafael Ayau orphanage in Guatemala City, and footage from it is seen in my “Someday” music video. Here is a great video further discussing the history, inner workings, and current needs of the orphanage. Let this time of year remind us to give of ourselves to those desperately in need of the basic living essentials!
The official “Someday” music video is finally here! Thanks to Andrew Garces and Tracy Pendergast for all their hard work in making this video come alive!
Exactly one year ago today, I spent a week at the Hogar Rafael Ayau Orphanage in Guatemala City. It was a life-changing experience and I cannot WAIT to return! It was hard not to feel guilty for feeling so changed and inspired after my visit, when I was the one who was supposed to be helping them!
I remember asking the one teenage girl what she wanted to be when she grew up, and she replied, “A secretary …” and I looked at her with a smile, and then she continued, “…or a singer!” That moment is when I realized no matter what part of hte world we live in or the experiences we have had, we truly are all united by our passions in life, regardless if “someday to you, means never to me.”
The kids were more than happy to participate in the music video, as well as some awesome friends of mine in NYC! Please feel free to share it with your friends and family, to show your support for these amazing future-adults, and children everywhere!
Peace. -AZ :D
